Stay abroad
From 1 February – 28 February 2015 PhD student Anders Ellern Bilgrau visited Carel F.W. Peeters and Wessel N. van Wieringen at the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics, VU University Medical Center, the Netherlands, for collaboration on a joint project on statistical methods for analyzing and integrating multiple datasets with applications in analysis.
The work will aid identifying functional biomarkers in non-Hodgkin lymphomas.
Anders applied for and received a grant for DKK 20,000 from the Danish Cancer Society to finance his stay.
Maria Rodrigo stayed at at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics, Oxford University from 1 October until end of December 2012. She visited Dr Helen Lockstone, who is head of Functional Data Analysis and involved in the analysis of microarray data and high-throughput sequencing data. The Centre is one of five MRC sequencing hubs in the UK and they generate a lot of RNA-Seq data. The purpose of the project was to apply new methods for detection of alternative/differential splicing in these datasets.
Steffen Falgreen and Martin Bøgsted stayed at the Statistical Laboratory, University of Cambridge, from 11 November until 22 November 2012. They visited Dr Richard Samworth and worked on methods for classification with repeated measures.
